Welcome to PrepaidPal ("we", "our", or "the App"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how PrepaidPal handles your information when you use our mobile application on Android and iOS.
100% Offline & Private: PrepaidPal operates entirely on your device. We do not operate remote servers, and your data is never sent to us or any third party.
No Account Required: You do not need to register, sign in, or provide personal details like your email address or phone number to use the App.
No Ads or Analytics: We do not track you, we do not use third-party analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase), and there are no advertisements.
You Own Your Data: All meter numbers, readings, top-ups, and notes are stored strictly on your local device. You can edit or delete them at any time.
PrepaidPal is designed as an offline-first utility to help you monitor and manage your prepaid electricity meters, consumption, and top-up history.
When using PrepaidPal, you may enter information including:
Meter Profiles: Meter name, physical meter number / STS identifier (optional), and preferred currency symbol.
Meter Readings: Electricity balance (kWh), date and time of reading, optional notes, and power outage / load shedding duration.
Top-Up Entries: Units purchased (kWh), cost/amount paid, optional recharge token number, and purchase date.
App Preferences: Low credit alert threshold days, reminder schedules, theme preference (light/dark/system), and language selection.
All of this data is stored exclusively in a secure, local database (SQLite and local device preferences) on your device. It is never transmitted across the internet to the developer or any remote servers.
Personal Identifiers: We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
Financial & Payment Data: The App does not process transactions. Any top-up costs or voucher tokens you record are strictly for your personal tracking records. We do not collect credit card, debit card, or bank account information.
Location Data: We do not access, track, or store your GPS or network-based location.
Device Hardware & Sensor Data: We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, photo library, or biometric data.
Telemetry & Analytics: We do not track user behavior, feature usage, or crash data via remote tracking services.
PrepaidPal requests only the minimum permissions necessary to provide its core reminder features:

Allows alert notifications to vibrate your device according to your device's notification settings.
Note: The production release of PrepaidPal does not request or use internet access (android.permission.INTERNET). The app cannot connect to the internet or transmit your data.
PrepaidPal does not integrate any third-party SDKs, marketing tools, analytics frameworks, or advertising networks. Specifically:
No advertising identifiers (IDFA or Google Advertising ID) are tracked.
No analytics SDKs (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, AppsFlyer) are included.
No remote crash reporting tools that send logs off-device are included.
Data Retention: Because your data is stored locally on your device, it remains there until you choose to delete it or until you uninstall the App.
User Control & Deletion:
You can edit or delete individual readings, top-ups, and meter profiles directly within the App.
You can wipe all App data at any time through your device's operating system settings (Settings > Apps > PrepaidPal > Clear Storage/Data on Android, or by deleting the App on iOS).
Uninstalling the App permanently deletes the local SQLite database and all saved entries.
Device Backups: If you have enabled automatic system backups (such as Google Drive Backup on Android or iCloud Backup on iOS), your local app data may be included in your personal device backup archive according to your operating system's settings.
Because all data remains strictly within the sandboxed storage of your device, its security relies on your device's built-in operating system security features (e.g., device passcode, biometric lock, encryption). We recommend keeping your device operating system updated and securing your device with a passcode.
PrepaidPal is a general audience utility and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children. Because the App operates entirely offline and collects no personal data, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable global regulations.
European Union / UK (GDPR): Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have rights regarding your personal data. Because PrepaidPal stores all data locally on your device without server transmission or processing by us, you hold complete autonomy over accessing, rectifying, exporting, and deleting your data at all times.
California (CCPA / CPRA): We do not sell, share, or disclose personal information to third parties, nor have we done so in the preceding 12 months.
South Africa (POPIA): In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, we do not process, store, or distribute personal information on remote systems. All electricity meter logs and tokens entered remain exclusively in the possession of the end user.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App following any updates signifies your acceptance of the revised policy.
